Takayama Jinya was the regional government house under control of the Tokugawa shogunate dating from 1692. It was used until 1969 when it became a museum. It's incredible to walk through and see the various entrances for high and low-ranking officials, the rooms for receiving guests, and the various living quarters in the immense building.
